Coach Helen Cain

USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach, and a US Masters Level I & II Certified Coach

coachhelen@tripossibilities.com

Coach Helen is a Pensacola native and has been an endurance athlete all her life -- because when your dad is a runner and your mom is a swimmer -- you do both!

She grew up spending mornings at running club, evenings at swim practice, and weekends at swim meets and running races.  She started competing in AAU at the age of 5 and later US Swimming thru high school, reaching state all 4 years, then swam collegiately for 2 years at Florida Atlantic University.  She ran road races starting in elementary school and continues now - her favorite local race is the Fiesta 10K.  So when SRITRI started on Pensacola Beach, it only seemed natural for Helen to join the fun.  She either raced or worked swim support for numerous years.

In 2012, Helen bit the bullet and finally decided to purchase a 'real' bike and actually ride it before racing at SRITRI that October, and officially fell in love with the sport of triathlon. Since then she has turned to triathlons as a way to remain competitive and healthy.  She has a very active elementary son plus two other boys, who are also swimmers, runners, and budding cyclists.  Family is immensely important to her along with maintaining a healthy balance of life and sport.  She trains and races when she can and rocked an Ironman with less than an average of 10 hours per week.

Known to her friends and family as Mama Bear, she is a fierce competitor but always has a smile on her face.  Racing is her happy place.

As a USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach and US Masters Level I & II Certified Coach, Helen aims to pass on her love of swimming and triathlons to her athletes.  She was a Red Cross lifeguard and swim coach/instructor for many years and has quickly revived her passion for swim instruction by incorporating it into her coaching.

Helen's coaching repertoire is with running 5k's to Ultras, open-water & pool swimming, nutritional programming, duathlons and short and long course triathlon coaching. Her expertise is in swimming - perfecting stroke techniques, creative workouts & easing athlete fears of open water.

Coach Dom Risola

USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach, IRONMAN Certified Coach, Slowtwitch F.I.ST. Bike Fit Certified, Training Peaks Certified and a USA Cycling Level III Certified Coach

coachdom@tripossibilities.com

Based in Gulf Breeze, Florida but coaching anywhere is Coach Domenick who is a former Middle and High School teacher, with a Masters degree in Education.  He is a USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach, IRONMAN Certified Coach, Slowtwitch F.I.ST. Bike Fit Certified, Training Peaks Certified, and a USA Cycling Level III Certified Coach. He lives and breathes family, endurance training, weight loss, functional strength and racing.

Coaching is only a part of Dom's community involvement in the endurance sport arena.  He is a former board member of TriGulfCoast, Former President of West Florida Wheelmen, and part of the Steering Committee for designating the City of Pensacola as an official 'bike-friendly' city and a Rotarian. He can be seen on any given summer Sunday assisting athletes of all abilities with their bike seats and lost gear searches.

Since 2019, Coach Dom has served as coach and race guide for triathlete Joey Beckman. Joey is completely blind and depends on Coach Dom to navigate the race course. Together, they have completed 8 triathlons, Including the 2021 Ironman 70.3 Augusta. Joey and Dom are a force to be reckoned with, and continue to hone their skills. Successfully completing a race together requires precise communication, unwavering alertness, and remarkable teamwork. During the swim, Joey and Dom are attached at the hip by a 31cm elastic cord that is affectionately referred to as “the leash” (there is a hilarious story behind it). Joey must rely on the tension of the cord to remain the correct distance from Dom. When the two approach a swim buoy that must be navigated around, Dom will tap Joey twice, realign their position, and tap Joey again when the direction has been corrected. During the run, Joey and Dom each hold on to a shorter hand-held “leash” and run side by side. As if running isn’t hard enough, Dom must verbally paint a picture of the road in front of Joey, describing every bump, dip, curb, hill, and debris along the way. During the bike, Joey and Dom utilize a Tandem bike. If you get passed by Joey and Dom, don’t get fooled into thinking they have an advantage. The tandem bike is very heavy, and the wind resistance is fierce, but these guys lay down some serious power! Stay tuned and follow Dom and Joeys journey, you are sure to be inspired!

Dom's wife Keena and their two children are also runners and triathletes. Dom is a multiple time Ironman finisher and can be seen competing in the age group field on any given weekend. He has raced throughout the Southeast earning nicknames such as “Hulk”,  "Animal", or “Dominator".  Dom is a master motivator and strong supporter of youth and adult athletics, and he's loud and proud about life.  All of his Ironman racers have finished with smiles.

Dom takes great pride in mentoring and coaching youth triathletes, coaching a wide range of athletes, and representing his team. His coaching expertise ranges from running 5k's to Ultras, power based training, nutritional programming, endurance mountain biking, off-road triathlons, Adventure Races, various cycling events, duathlons and short and long course triathlon coaching.

Rob Hale has been an athlete since age 5. He started playing baseball, eventually adding soccer, basketball and football. Rob joined the Navy after high school to stay active and continued playing baseball into his mid-20s after trying out for multiple pro baseball teams.

During his time in the Navy, he began writing strength workouts for himself and his friends. During his 5-year tour in Texas, Rob was even the PT coordinator for his division of 11 people, where he built a training program for all to pass the PT test.

After the Navy, Rob got into triathlon and endurance sports. Not knowing exactly where to start, he just started to swim, bike and run his way to completing his first sprint triathlon. He found P90X as his functional strength program, as suggest by seasoned triathletes. That led him to complete 2 more sprint triathlons, 2 10-mile races and his first half marathon, completing it in 2:01:00.

Rob was lured back into triathlon after a break, but this time he had a better idea of strength training, and completed his first 2 70.3 triathlons, followed by his first 2 Ironman triathlons.

As Rob progressed his knowledge with strength training, he homed in on his quest to get stronger and faster. During Covid he began studying for his NASM CPT certification, and finally after years of following other programs, Rob decided to write his own strength training plan geared towards endurance athletes.
